Ask a Real Question

Q- Where are you from?

A- South Florida. I was born in North Miami, FL. I grew up in Dade County, but after the age of 7, I was primarily raised in Broward County until college (Pembroke Pines/Hollywood and Miramar). I currently live in Central Florida (Sanford, FL).

Q- What’s your music background?

A- I was exposed to different types of music at an early age. My parents raised me off of Earth, Wind, and Fire; Sade; Anita Baker; Michael Jackson; Luther Vandross; Fred Hammond; Whitney Houston; Kenny G; etc. Lots of soulful artists. I played the trumpet, bass drum, and xylophone in my junior high school band. I found out later in life that my grandfather was a saxophone player for a traveling jazz band.

Q- Who are your favorite artists/bands?

A- In no particular order: Michael Jackson, Nas, Tupac, Eminem, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Queen, Jay Z, Joe Budden, The All-American Rejects, Shiny Toy Guns, Alanis Morrisette, Wale, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, J. Cole, Sade, Hillsong, Whitney Houston, Lecrae, Da T.R.U.T.H., Andre 3000, Taylor Swift, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Monchy y Alexandra, James Brown, Dexter, Jai Eagle, and Mary J Blige. I know I’m missing a few more names, but can you tell I’m a REAL fan of music???

Q- How did you come up with the name “Justincredible”?

A- Actually I didn’t come up with the name at all. I was rapping with a group of guys in a garage in Miramar, FL and Drew Coutrier (aka Big Gatz or Gatz, at the time) coined the name. I liked it and stuck with it. One word…not like the Wrestler or Radio Personality.

Q- Who would you like to collab with?

A- Everyone of my favorite artist/bands, plus some more. But I can’t just make a song with someone or guest feature on a track if I don’t believe in it or feel like I should be on it.

Q- What are you currently working on? Current projects or moves?

A- I’m currently working on writing my 3rd album and I’m also about to start an EP project with a fellow music artist, J. Cruz.

Q- What inspires you to make music and/or poetry?

A- Life. Anything in life that I care about, that means something to me, or I find important enough to speak about…..I write about it. Love, anger, fear, my wife, family, failure, regret, God, racism, politics, war, the media, the state of music, America, my community, real-life personal experiences, my deep thoughts and sentiments, other people’s lives that I know, etc. Anything worth thinking or speaking about, I try to write about it and bring those thoughts and feelings out through my music and poetry.
